Introductory Backpacking Series

Perfect for the beginner backpacker, this combines a Backpacking Basics Lecture with an easy overnight trip into either Kananaskis or David Thompson country. Learn all you need to know about preparing for backpacking from the lecture, then head out with an experienced guide to put it into practice. Each trip is designed to be something that an introductory hiker could handle, but adds on the challenge of carrying additional gear. If there is a need for additional gear (packs, tents, stoves, etc) check with us before you buy - we may have some gear available to rent.

Cost includes lecture, pre-meeting, overnight trip with experienced guide, group camping equipment, and all permits and fees. Does not include cost of transportation to/from trailhead or gratuities.
