Day Hiking Workshops

Workshops are a great way to learn about everything you would like to know about hiking from an experienced guide.  They are designed for beginner hikers, and in combination with a guided hike (separate) a great way to ease into hiking in the mountains. Although workshops last a full two hours, the presentation is fun, interactive and include slides, handouts, questions and answers, and is taught by an experienced guide with over 20 years of experience as a hiker and over 10 years of experience as a high school teacher.  Topics include clothing and footwear choices, blister prevention, what and how to pack your daypack, wildlife encounters (bears, ungulates and ticks!), basic map reading skills and local day hiking options.  Anyone can attend the workshops, whether you are signed up for a hike or not.
