Hike Ratings

Level 1: Up to 8 - 9 km round-trip on flat or rolling terrain and good trails up to 200m elevation gain; relaxed pace.  Designed for those who have little or no hiking experience and are in fair physical condition.

Level 2: Easy 9 – 12 km round-trip hike on rolling terrain and mostly good trails with up to 300m-elevation gain. Hike for 3-4 hours at a relaxed pace. This is meant for individuals who have little hiking experience and are in fair condition.

Level 3: A 10 – 13 km hike on varied terrain with up to 450m elevation gain. May include some off-trail travel or easy creek crossings. Hike for 4-5 hours at a moderate pace. Meant for individuals who have some hiking experience and are in good physical condition.

Level 4: 11 – 15 km of long steep hikes, on varied terrain with up to 600m elevation gain. Includes some off-trail travel, rocky terrain, scree, bush or creek crossings.  Hike for 5-6 hours at a moderate pace.  Meant for those who have hiking experience and are in good physical condition.

Level 5: Long, strenuous hikes over 15 km, with more than 600m elevation gain.  Includes off-trail travel and rough ground.  Hikes are 6-8 hours at a moderate pace.  Meant for individuals who have hiking experience and are in good to strong physical condition.

 

* Note: The trip ratings are general ratings.  Some trips are rated higher or lower based on terrain considerations, and some trips may have short sections that might be above the level indicated. If you are concerned about the difficulty of the trip, please contact us prior to attending to help understand why the trip has been rated the way it has.
