1(Easy)11.8 km215 metresJohnston Canyon is typically overrun with tourists in the summer, and even in the off-season, it can be quite challenging not to run into tourbusses full of people.  Having said that, it is a still a worthwhile trip that has great views and excellent trails, and beyond the falls the paint pots are quite beautiful.  This trip is inside Banff and is one of the hikes many people talk about for many years afterward.  In winter conditions, snowshoes or additional grips attached to shoes will come in handy.

Alternate Hike: Tunnel Mountain
Access - Drive Hwy 1A (Bow Valley Parkway) to Johnston Canyon, 17.5 km northeast of the Trans-Canada junction near Banff townsite.  Park on the Northeast side of the highway, across the creek from the resort.
