Introductory Snowshoe Outings - Local Areas

New to snowshoeing?  These are great ways to try it out without going too far away and with little to no elevation gain.

Sunday January 12 - 2014        Innisfail Golf Course                   Cost: $30

Golf courses are perfect locations to practice snowshoeing, and Innisfail's
course is no exception.  We'll go over basic movement, technique and get some
fresh air without going too far away from home.

Sunday February 9 - 2014        Red Deer River Valley                 Cost: $30

Not only is the Red Deer River Valley a great place to cross-country ski, it has great
potential as a snowshoeing area!  As with the golf course, this location will give us a
chance to review basic movement and techniques.

Snowshoe Day Trips - Mountains

For those who want to experience more than just snowshoeing around their backyard, these trips are sure to inspire you to keep going!  Click on the Book Now button for more information about pricing, distances and detailed trip information.

Saturday January 11 - 2014        Hogarth Lakes, Kananaskis                Cost: $75

A fitting place to 'break in' your snowshoes.  Typically this area sees a high amount
of snow, and is an excellent location to discuss movement in deep snow and avalanche
concerns without getting into anything too strenuous.

Saturday January 18 - 2014        Ink Pots, Banff National Park              Cost: $75

A great winter trip up to the Ink Pots, which stay at about 2 degrees all year round!
Whether you are a novice or experienced, this trip is always very rewarding and scenic.

Saturday January 25 -OR- March 22 - 2014       Chester Lake, Kananaskis                  Cost: $75

A classic snowshoe trip in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.  Trip begins along the
Smith-Dorrien Spray Lakes road, and goes up between Chester Peak, Fortress Mountain
and Galatea to the Chester Lake cirque.  A beautiful trip into prime mountain territory.
